Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Quartz

Quartz is a juvenile green sea turtle who found washed ashore on March 24 in Daytona Beach Shores. Due to space limitations, Quartz was transferred to CMA from Volusia County Marine Science Center.

Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Sapphire

Sapphire is a juvenile green sea turtle who found washed ashore on March 24 in St. John’s County. Due to space limitations, Sapphire was transferred to CMA from Volusia County Marine Science Center to continue out the remainder of their rehabilitation.

Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Neptunite

Neptunite is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found washed ashore in Volusia county on March 11. Neptunite was transferred to CMA on March 12 from Volusia County Marine Science Center as they do not treat turtles with the fibropapilloma virus and other facilities had space limitations. Neptunite was lethargic and had a moderate load of epibiota present on their carapace on intake examiniation. Neptunite’s initial treatment plan consists of vitamins and fluids.

Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Ruffles

Ruffles is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found floating near Cocoa Beach in Brevard county on March 9. Due to space limitations, Ruffles was transferred to CMA on March 10 to continue out the remainder of their rehabilitation. Ruffles has a relatively good body condition and a moderate load of fibropapilloma tumors present. Ruffles initial treatment plan consists of vitamins and fluids.

Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Jade

Jade is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found stranded on Sand Key on Feb.13. Jade was lethargic but has relatively good body condition at intake examination. Jade experienced acute hypothermia due to our local cold weather. Jade has no other external abnormalities. Jade’s initial treatment plan consists of vitamins and fluids.

Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Gypsum

Gypsum is a subadult green sea turtle who was found lethargic near south Anclote in Pinellas county on February 7. Gypsum has a large amount of epibiota (algae and barnacles) on their carapace (shell) and head, which means they have been debilitated for quite some time. Gypsum is also missing their right front flipper, but it is completely healed and unrelated to their cause for stranding.

Beryl was transferred to CMA from Whitney Lab on Jan. 25 due to space limitations they were experiencing with recent strandings. Citrine is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found washed ashore in Flagler county on Jan. 24. Citrine was transferred to CMA from Whitney Lab on Jan. 25 due to space limitations they were experiencing with recent strandings. Citrine has a heavy load of barnacles on their carapace, thin body condition, and a moderate load of fibropapilloma tumors.

Aquamarine is a juvenile, green sea turtle who was found floating near Honeymoon Island on Jan. 21. Aquamarine experienced acute hypothermia due to our local cold weather, and their body temperature was back to normal values the next day! We are hopeful for a quick recovery!

Bagel is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found floating near the Steinhatchee River in Taylor county on Dec. 31. Bagel has minor fibropapilloma tumors present and no other external injuries or abnormalities. Bagel’s initial treatment plan consists of vitamins and fluid therapy.
