Clearwater Marine Aquarium to Present Lights by the Bay: A Spectacular Pirate-Themed Drone Show

Press Releases Announcements Updated January 4, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024

CLEARWATER, FL (Jan. 2, 2024) – Clearwater Marine Aquarium will present a family-friendly, pirate-themed event, Lights by the Bay Drone Show, on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This evening will feature a mesmerizing drone show, showcasing over 150 drones performing aerial maneuvers and light displays. Set against the backdrop of Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Clearwater Bay, this pirate-themed show promises to be an unforgettable experience for all, filled with “oohs and aahhhs” — and “arghhs!”

With synchronized pirates, treasure maps and swashbuckling adventures, Lights by the Bay’s Drone Show will entertain but also highlights CMA’s mission of rescue, rehab, and release, as well as the feature the incredible marine animals that have shaped the Aquarium’s rich 50-year history.

Anthony Rivera, Chief Operating Officer at CMA, expressed his excitement about using lights and music to narrate their story of compassion and conservation. He emphasized the environmental friendliness of drone lights, stating, “The use of drone lights are far more environmentally friendly than fireworks, and we’re contributing to environmental care through this process,” he said.

In addition to the drone show, Lights by the Bay offers an array of entertainment. Guests will enjoy live music, signature food and drinks, and exclusive access to the Ruth and J.O. Stone Dolphin Complex. Throughout the evening, visitors can explore various marine life habitats, including sea turtles, stingrays, and other fascinating residents. The event also will feature two live pirates and a “pewter pirate.”

Tickets for Lights by the Bay are available in both VIP and general admission categories. General admission tickets are priced at $55 for adults and $45 for children ages 3-12, while VIP tickets are $85 for adults and $65 for children ages 3-12.
