Summer Fun Begins at CMA with Unique Programming for All Ages
CLEARWATER, FL (March 1, 2024) – Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) is thrilled to announce its dynamic and award-winning Marine Science Summer Camp programs for 2024, offering an unforgettable coastal learning experience for campers of all ages.
Starting June 3, CMA’s Summer Camps will whisk kids away into a world of fun and education. Campers will dive deep into CMA’s mission of rescue, rehab, and release, encountering rescued dolphins, river otters, and sea turtles up close. From snorkeling in vibrant seagrass beds to kayaking through picturesque local estuaries, each day is an aquatic adventure waiting to happen!
CMA is also excited to announce the return of the Ron Jon & Surfing’s Evolution and Preservation Foundation Scholarship for summer camp programs in 2024. This scholarship, available to graduates of 4th to 8th grade, offers young explorers the chance to immerse themselves into educational programs. Each scholarship covers the cost of one week of full-day camp tuition, a camp gear pack, and daily lunches during selected weeks throughout the summer. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested candidates can apply for the scholarship through the provided link.
Ensuring the safety of all participants, boats for snorkeling activities are supervised by Coast Guard certified Captains, in addition to staff and college interns. Plus, campers always have access to shallow waters where they can stand during snorkeling sessions. No prior snorkeling experience is necessary, CMA’s snorkeling camps are perfect for beginners and seasoned snorkelers alike.
“At our summer camp, we believe in the power of immersive learning, conservation, and fun-filled adventures. With a diverse array of themes and carefully curated activities, we inspire young minds to explore the wonders of marine life while fostering a deep appreciation for conservation efforts. Together, we ensure that every experience leaves a lasting impact on campers that inspires them to care and empowers them to act in a manner that protects our marine ecosystem,” said Kelly McAdams, vice president of conservation education.
Camps are tailored to various grade levels, including K-1, K-3, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Each camp is a 5-day program running from Monday through Friday. Morning camp sessions are scheduled from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, while afternoon sessions run from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The Advanced Marine Biology camp is a full-day program for high school students, operating from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Most camp sessions are priced at $240 per week, with a discounted rate of $220 available for CMA members.
