Their Story
Clearwater Marine Aquarium received 12 juvenile, green sea turtles from Volusia Marine Science Center due to their space limitations from a large stranding event. Blarney, Dublin, Guinness, Leprechaun, Paddy and Shamrock were transferred on March 17th (St. Patricks Day). Beaivi, Hare Ke, Idun, Ostara, Persephone, and Shinto were transferred on March 22nd. Blarney and Beaivi both have been in rehab longer at VMSC and have progressed more than the others. Majority of these greens are lethargic and have thin body conditions. Their initial treatment plan consists of antibiotics and fluid therapy. All will remain at CMA to continue out the remainder of their rehab.
Naming theme: Irish (St. Patricks Day), and Spring Goddesses

All 12 patients have gone for a CT scans over the last week and are continuing on antibiotics. Blarney, Paddy, Ostara, and Beiavi are eating very well and have been in deep water full time. We are monitoring Dublin, Guinness, Hare Ke, Shamrock, and Shinto’s appetites and weight; but otherwise they are doing well in deep water. Leprechaun, Idun, and Persephone are our more critical transfers. They are on daily fluids and are still in kiddie pools.
All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles.
