CMA Harbor Seals

CMA spring break features new harbor seals, tropical birds, snorkeling, kayaking; Events include Easter Brunch, Sea Turtle Awareness Day 

(CLEARWATER, FL – March 9 , 2026) – Celebrate spring break with purpose during Spring Seal‑abration at Clearwater Marine Aquarium, featuring new animals, newly renovated habitats, and immersive, hands‑on experiences all March and April.

The stars of Spring Seal-abration are Scallop, Pharaoh and Ocean, CMA’s first-ever harbor seals. Their arrival also marks the debut of a newly renovated habitat designed to bring guests closer than ever to these charismatic marine mammals. The addition of harbor seals introduces an entirely new species experience for guests, expanding CMA’s rescue, rehabilitation and education mission and sharing unforgettable animal encounters and interactive programs.

The excitement continues above the water with four vibrant tropical birds, including Powder, Big Bird, Mr. Thumbs and Skipper, now part of the CMA family. These lively ambassadors add bursts of color and surprise encounters throughout the aquarium with daily educational bird presentations at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., up-close encounters and fun facts about their tropical ecosystems and conservation.

Special events throughout March and April include:

  • Spring Sips & Seals March 21, 6 to 9 p.m. 
  • Snorkel Adventures March 17, 19, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Kayak Adventures March 18, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 
  • Night at the Aquarium, March 20, 6 to 8 p.m. 
  • Pre-K Pod Pals April 7 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. 
  • Seaside Seabird Sanctuary at CMA March 21, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Career Exploration April 11, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Sea Turtle Awareness Day — April 4, 10 a.m. -2 p.m.
  • Easter Brunch — April 4, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Easter Activities and Family Fun — April 5, 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

During March 14 to April 12, Spring Seal-abration activities will feature hands-on activities and family-friendly programs happening throughout the aquarium, including:

  • Behind-the-Scenes Tours: 10:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 2:15 p.m.
  • Glitter Tattoos: 10 a.m.–2 p.m. (small charge)
  • Spring Break Scavenger Hunt: 9 a.m.– 4 p.m. with prizes
  • Flower Wall Craft Station: 10 a.m.– 4 p.m.
  • Kahoot Trivia: 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (Thursday–Sunday)
  • Spring Splash Showdown: 11 a.m.– 12 p.m. and 3 – 4 p.m. (Thursday–Sunday) with hula hoop contests, egg spoon races and water bucket challenges.
