Grab some popcorn – rain or shine – for an air-conditioned, summer-time movie at CMA
CLEARWATER, FL (August 9, 2024) – Clearwater Marine Aquarium will offer two new movies next week – “Turtle Odyssey” and “T-Rex,” beginning Saturday, Aug. 17. The 25-minute-long movies will run between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., as an added guest experience in the Visitor Center’s Dolphin Tale Theater.
Narrated by Russell Crowe, Turtle Odyssey explores the unique lifecycle of an Australian green sea turtle named Bunji and her incredible journey across the open ocean. The film follows Bunji from a hatchling into adulthood as she swims thousands of miles, meets incredible creatures and has some really wild encounters.
“For over 100 million years, turtles have traversed the seas, survived multiple mass extinctions and playing critical roles in maintaining healthy, marine food webs. Not only do these friendly animals captivate us as they peacefully glide through the ocean, but their personal journeys of survival are equally fascinating,” according to producers at Giant Screen Films (GSF).
“The story of the sea turtle is a glimpse into the life of turtles that CMA helps rescue, rehabilitate and release on a daily basis,” said Anthony Rivera, chief operating officer at CMA. “Bringing this special movie to our guests allows them to see the journey of survival turtles face right in our own back yard in the Gulf of Mexico and shares an important message of the importance of conservation efforts,” Rivera said.
And equally exciting, CMA will offer the new release, T-Rex, which invites guests into the world of dinosaurs in a high energy, immersive film featuring three kids who discover a ‘teenage” rex fossil, in a remarkable true story that garnered international press coverage in more than 2,000 publications and media outlets.
Both movies are produced by GSF, pioneers in immersive storytelling for over two decades in large-format films. “Our productions challenge the imaginations and curiosity of life-long learners, young and old, offering unforgettable museum, aquarium and media experiences around the world.” Award-winning films in the GSF catalog have grossed over $250M in global box office, reaching tens of millions of theatrical viewers and hundreds of millions more in-home.
The movies are free with the price of admission to the Aquarium.
