Celebrate Mother’s Day Weekend in Style with the Art of Lina Teixeira
CLEARWATER, FL (April 22, 2025) — Clearwater Marine Aquarium invites the public to experience an unforgettable evening of fashion and purpose with the “Oceania Couture” Fashion Performance on Saturday, May 10, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Held in the elegant Jacobson Ballroom, this unique event brings together high fashion and ocean conservation — just in time for Mother’s Day weekend.
The evening will showcase original, marine-inspired couture by Lina Teixeira, acclaimed fashion designer and Clearwater Vice Mayor. Teixeira will be joined onstage by her daughter and model, Bianca, in a heartfelt celebration of artistry and legacy. The event will also spotlight the talents of five Clearwater High School student artists, whose works will be featured alongside Teixeira’s collection.
Proceeds from the event will support the Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release marine animals — ensuring that our oceans remain vibrant and full of life for generations to come.
Teixeira’s designs are known for pushing boundaries. Her latest collection, created exclusively for Oceania Couture, channels the mystique of the underwater world through flowing silhouettes and oceanic tones of blues, greys, seafoam, sand and white. Several one-of-a-kind gowns will be available in an auction during the event.
“We are thrilled to host this extraordinary fashion performance,” said Joe Handy, CEO of Clearwater Marine Aquarium. “It’s a unique way to celebrate Mother’s Day and support our ongoing conservation efforts. Lina’s artistic vision and passion for the ocean are a perfect match for our mission.”
With a career rooted in sustainability and transformation, Teixeira creates fashion by deconstructing existing materials—reimagining textiles, recycled elements, and even discarded items into breathtaking wearable art. She is celebrated across Tampa Bay for her avant-garde work with Dunedin Fine Art Museum’s Wearable Art Shows, St. Petersburg Fine Arts Museum, and most recently, her “Uncommon Couture” exhibit at Clearwater Main Library.
Teixeira’s past collections have paid tribute to icons like David Bowie and Elvis Presley, and have explored gender-fluid fashion and bold artistic expression. With Oceania Couture, she returns to her roots—elevating feminine silhouettes with dramatic flair and eco-conscious craftsmanship.
This is not just a runway show—it’s a performance. Models will move and sway through the ballroom in choreographed routines set to a mix of Latin music, ballet and playful PG-13 hip hop, adding energy and emotion to the visual storytelling.
Tickets are $75 for general admission and $100 for VIP, which includes early admission at 6:30 p.m., VIP seating, one appetizer and drink ticket.
