Clearwater Marine Aquarium is thrilled to announce its upcoming event, AquaGala on the Island, a sumptuous affair set to take place on March 9 at Clearwater Marine Aquarium. This highly anticipated inaugural fundraiser will support the Aquarium’s ongoing mission of rescue, rehabilitation and release, with each ticket going to support this important mission.

Bagel is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found floating near the Steinhatchee River in Taylor county on Dec. 31. Bagel has minor fibropapilloma tumors present and no other external injuries or abnormalities. Bagel’s initial treatment plan consists of vitamins and fluid therapy.

Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – NE Transfer Kemp’s Ridleys

On December 5th, Clearwater Marine Aquarium received 16 juvenile Kemp’s ridleys transfers from New England Aquarium. These turtles were part of a recent mass cold-stun event in Cape Cod Massachusetts.

Challah is a juvenile green sea turtle who was washed ashore on Redington Shores with predation injuries likely from a shark.

Manatee Tracking – Sheeran

A nine and a half foot adult female manatee named Sheeran was captured on August 10, 2023 in the Little Back River off the Savannah River in Georgia through the collaborative effort between Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute (CMARI), Georgia Aquarium (GAQ), Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR) and other partners. Sheeran received a full health assessment checkup by GAQ veterinarian staff and was outfitted with a GPS satellite tag to closely monitor her travels as part of our manatee Northern Atlantic Coast Manatee Movement study.

nine foot manatee named Knox and her calf were rescued from Cooper River, Charleston, South Carolina by SeaWorld, Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Marine Mammal Foundation, South Carolina Aquarium, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, University of Florida and U.S. Navy on 8 November 2021.
