Beryl’s Story
Beryl is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found washed ashore in Flagler county on Jan. 24. Beryl was transferred to CMA from Whitney Lab on Jan. 25 due to space limitations they were experiencing with recent strandings. Beryl has a relatively good body condition and minor fibropapilloma tumors present.

Beryl’s first swim test showed no concerning or abnormal swimming behaviors in water. We will increase their swim time as they improve. We are continuing to do glucose checks and giving fluids as needed.

Beryl is able to be in deep water all day and overnight. They are starting to show interest in food.

Beryl went for a CT scan. Next step will be to do an endscopy to check for esophageal tumors. Beryl is continuing to eat well.

Beryl was released on the east coast of Florida thanks to the help of FWC!
All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-23/24-172.
