Oceanus

Oceanus is a subadult, green sea turtle who was found floating with boat strike injuries near Three Rooker Island on July 20th. Oceanus’ injuries to their carapace do not appear to be fresh. They are also missing their left front flipper, but this is completely healed and unrelated to their current boat strike injuries. Oceanus’ initial treatment plan consists of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, fluids, and cold laser treatment.

Treatment Updates

7.22.26

Oceanus’ CT scan showed no obvious internal damage. They were cleared to be put in water. Oceanus is able to dive and rest on the bottom of their ICU pool. We will gradually increase their time in water as they improve.

7.23.26

Oceanus has started to show interest in food! We are doing daily cold laser treatment on their carapace injuries. The cold laser will help them improve and heal quickly by stimulating damaged cells to regrow and help decrease inflammation.

7.31.26

Oceanus is continuing to do well in water!

All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-25/26-172.
