Focaccia is a subadult Kemp’s ridley who was found struggling in the water near Sand Key on June 20. Focaccia’s behaviors during their first swim test showed uncoordinated swimming that was similar to our previous red tide exposed kemp’s ridleys: Chandler, Howie, and Alexis Rose in 2021.
Ocean Aid 360, Tampa Bay Watch, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and Coastal Impact Fund are partnering and recruiting volunteer boaters and shoreline walkers to participate in a free, family-friendly derelict crab trap and marine debris removal contest – with prizes and lunch provided for participants – on Saturday, July 15, in two locations: Belleair Causeway and Fort De Soto Park boat ramp.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium will present a family-friendly event, Lights by the Bay, Saturday, June 24, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., as part of its new after-hours events. Once the sun goes down, more than 150 drones will take center stage, performing aerial maneuvers and light displays, all set against the stunning backdrop of Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Clearwater Bay.
