Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Waukesha

Waukesha is a juvenile, green sea turtle who was found floating and lethargic in St. Pete on Jan. 26th. Waukesha experienced acute hypothermia due to our local cold weather, and their body temperature was back to normal values within a few days.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) announces the opening of its new BayCare Kids Check-Up Exhibit, a three-year partnership that kicks off with the first phase opening today, Feb. 12. This interactive and educational exhibit in the Mangrove Key Kids Zone is located outside CMA’s Animal Hospital and surgical suite, allowing families and kids to see the similarities between themselves and marine life such as dolphins, manatees, turtles and more.

The dazzling Aqua Lanterns: A Chinese Festival of Lights at Clearwater Marine Aquarium, which began in October, is nearing its final days of its season. This unforgettable after-hours experience will be available Wednesday through Friday, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., until Feb. 2.

Vegas is a large juvenile, green sea turtle, who was found stranded in a creek near the Steinhatchee River in Dixie county on Jan. 4. This area experienced extreme flooding during Hurricane Helene, and now that the waters have receded, many marine animals are now trapped in this area. Vegas is in good body condition and has a minor case of fibropapilloma. We are hopeful for a quick turnaround!

Clearwater Marine Aquarium to Present Sip & Sea Bridal Show and Open House

Clearwater Marine Aquarium will present its Sip & Sea Bridal Show and Open House, a free event, on Jan. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to explore the Aquarium, gorgeous ballroom overlooking Clearwater Bay and the magical surroundings of marine animals.

This area experienced extreme flooding during Hurricane Helene, and now that the waters have receded, many marine animals are now trapped in this area. Utica is in good body condition and has a minor case of fibropapilloma. We are hopeful for a quick turnaround!

Cold-Stunned Kemp’s Ridley Transfer From New England

On December 12, Clearwater Marine Aquarium received 12 juvenile Kemp’s ridleys transfers from New England Aquarium. These turtles were part of a recent mass cold-stun event in Cape Cod Massachusetts.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium Analyzes 30 Years of Sea Turtle Nesting Data

Researchers at Clearwater Marine Aquarium have published a scientific article titled Nesting Trends of Sea Turtles in North and Mid Pinellas County, Florida, USA, Over Three Decades,* analyzing data from 1990 through 2022 to identify trends in loggerhead sea turtle nesting numbers, nesting , and hatching success on Pinellas County beaches.
