Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Guayana

Guayana is a juvenile, sea turtle, who was found floating near Crystal River with injury to their carapace (shell) and head. Guayana has a good body condition and minor fibropapilloma tumors present. They were active and alert at the intake examination. Over the next few days, we will be performing diagnostics to assess the extent of their injuries internally and monitoring their behaviors.

Manatee Coffee, the Florida-founded coffee company and original “Coffee with a Cause,” has proudly partnered with Clearwater Marine Aquarium to support the highly anticipated opening of its new Manatee Rehabilitation Center, which debuted to the public last week on Monday, August 12. Due to Manatee Coffee’s reputation in The Sunshine State, for its devoted philanthropic efforts toward manatee preservation, Clearwater Marine Aquarium sought out its support to spread awareness for the new Manatee Rehabilitation Center and this unique partnership was formed.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s Manatee Rehabilitation Center Is Now Open

Clearwater Marine Aquarium opened its Manatee Rehabilitation Center today, heralding a significant milestone for the Aquarium. This state-of-the-art facility will help accommodate the surge in manatees requiring care. CMA will provide assistance to sick, injured or orphaned manatees which includes individuals affected by habitat loss, boat strike wounds, ingestion of foreign objects, entanglements and cold stress syndrome. Equipped with the latest technology, including ozone treatment and medical habitats with false bottoms, the center is designed to ensure the comfort and well-being of these gentle sea creatures.

Sea Turtle Hospital Patient – Franklin

Franklin is a juvenile, green sea turtle who was found entangled in fishing line near New Port Richey on August 4. The entanglement thankfully did not cause any injuries as it was mainly wrapped around their fibropapilloma tumors. Franklin has a moderate amount of fibropapilloma tumors present that will be addressed with our CO2 laser once they are healthy for surgery.

New Immersive Movies at Clearwater Marine Aquarium Invite Guests Underwater for “Turtle Odyssey” and Walk with a Legend, “T-Rex”

Clearwater Marine Aquarium will offer two new movies next week – “Turtle Odyssey” and “T-Rex,” beginning Saturday, Aug. 17. The 25-minute-long movies will run between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., as an added guest experience in the Visitor Center’s Dolphin Tale Theater.

Manatee Rehabilitation Patient – Yeti

Yeti was rescued for cold stress in Kings Bay, Citrus County, Florida on February 15,2024. He was 205 centimeters long and weighed 365 pounds at the time of his rescue. Yeti was transported to ZooTampa for care and transferred to Clearwater Marine Aquarium for continued rehabilitation. He is currently 216 cm long and weighs 495 lbs.

Zamnoni

Manatee Rehabilitation Patient – Zamboni

Updated February 21, 2025 Posted July 30, 2024

Zamboni was rescued for cold stress in Placida Bayou, Pinellas County, Florida on January 25, 2024. He was 200 centimeters long and weighed 306 pounds at the time of his rescue. Zamboni was transported to Zootampa for care and transferred to Clearwater Marine Aquarium for continued rehabilitation. He is currently 208 cm long and weighs 440 pounds.
