Good body condition and alert. No obvious external abnormalities.

Vitamin injections and fluids

Kimchi’s Story

Kimchi is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found by a fisherman in Levy County upside down on an oyster bed. At examination, Kimchi has no obvious external abnormalities and is in good body condition. Kimchi’s initial treatment consists of vitamin injections and fluids. We are hopeful for a quick turnaround for Kimchi!

Treatment Updates

3.31.22

Kimchi is exhibiting floating behaviors during first swim test. We will continue to monitor and increase swim time as he improves. He has already started to show interest in food!

Kimchi is no longer floating! He is able to dive down in deep water and can rest on the bottom. He is continuing to eat well!

Kimchi has received a clean bill of health from our veterinarian!

Kimchi was released on Pine Island in Hernando County!


All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-21/22-172A.
