Leonardo’s Story
Leonardo is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found washed ashore on Vilano Beach in St. John’s County on March 21, 2019. Leonardo, along with 5 other turtles, was transferred to Clearwater Marine Aquarium from Volusia County Marine Science Center on April 1 because of limited rehab space. Leonardo has an area on carapace of exposed bone possibly from barnacles. Current treatment plan consists of fluids, vitamin injections, and antibiotics.

All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-18-172.
