Naan’s Story

Naan is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found floating offshore in Citrus County on August 11. Naan has small fibropapilloma tumors on both eyes and several other tumors on their body. Their overall body condition and activity level is good! Naan’s initial treatment plan consists of fluids and vitamins.

Naan is doing well in water and showing no signs of buoyancy issues.

Naan has already started to show interest in food and is able to be in water all day and overnight!

Naan went for a routine CT scan no signs of obvious abnormalities! We are hopeful they will be ready for surgery soon!

Naan is ready for surgery.


All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-23/24-172.
