Taz’s Story

Taz is a juvenile green sea turtle who was found floating in a shipping channel in the Crystal River area on May 29, 2019. After x-rays, it was discovered there is a lot of gastrointestinal gas that could be causing Taz to float. Taz’s treatment plan consists of fluids, vitamins and antibiotics.

X-rays completed and bloodwork sent out to the lab. Swimming well in the kiddie pool.

Favoring right side when swimming. Continuing to do glucose checks twice a day and giving fluids if needed.

All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-18-172.
