Third-Party Review Update

Announcements Posted March 28, 2023

For 50 years Clearwater Marine Aquarium has been a leader in marine mammal care and dolphin rehabilitation. Clearwater Marine Aquarium continues to be at the forefront of progressive dolphin research and the first response to dolphins requiring emergency, life-saving care. Commissioned by Clearwater Marine Aquarium, a panel of experts, led by animal welfare expert, James Gesualdi, has begun an in-depth, independent review.

The comprehensive analysis will focus on habitats, water quality, veterinary care, animal welfare, and environmental impact. This team of experts is highly experienced and well-suited to conduct this survey. We anticipate a thorough, objective, and transparent review.

The panel of experts includes:

  • James Gesualdi, Animal Welfare Expert and Lawyer
  • Lara Croft, Veterinarian
  • Andy Stamper, Veterinarian
  • Rita Vondra, Husbandry at Texas State Aquarium
  • Paul Cooley, PCA Global

As a working marine animal hospital, we are committed to providing the animals at Clearwater Marine Aquarium with the best care. We look forward to working with these outside experts to ensure that our institution continues to meet the highest standards of quality and excellence.
