Clearwater Marine Aquarium released Moira Rose, a sub-adult green sea turtle, on Thursday, December 2, 2021.
Moira Rose’s Story
Moira Rose was found floating and having difficulty staying submerged near Crystal River in Citrus County on October 16, 2021. She had a partially healed boat strike injury to her carapace (shell).
Moira Rose’s condition improved and she was cleared for release by our veterinarian and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
On December 2, Moira Rose was released at Fred Howard Park. We wish her the best as she makes her way back home!
All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-19-172.
