Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s Inspire Program staff and Board of Directors members visited with children and their families at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium announces the kick-off of an immersive virtual reality experience, “Drop in the Ocean” on Dec. 16. This interactive and social adventure takes visitors on a deep underwater journey, shedding light on the pressing issue of plastic pollution plaguing our world’s oceans.

In a collaborative effort to save the lives of 16 critically endangered Kemp’s ridley sea turtles, Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) welcomed the arrival of these cold-stunned reptiles on Tuesday, Dec 5. Transported from the New England Aquarium (NEAQ) facility in Quincy, MA, the turtles were severely impacted by the frigid waters of New England, experiencing a condition known as ‘cold-stun.’

Clearwater Marine Aquarium will host Marine Masterpieces: A Night of Art and Conservation, in partnership with the Morean Arts Center. This enchanting evening will bring together the worlds of art and marine wonder in a family-friendly event on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Researchers with Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute (CMARI) have sighted the first North Atlantic right whale mom and calf pair of the 2023-2024 season off the coast of South Carolina. The mother, Juno (Catalog #1612), estimated to be over 38 years old, has successfully given birth to her 8th documented calf.

A manatee in Clearwater Bay had quite a harrowing experience this past week but luckily after the persistence of local agencies, Clearwater Marine Aquarium and ZooTampa at Lowry Park, he was able to be returned safely.

Today, Clearwater Marine Aquarium unveils ArtSEA Conservation, an art exhibit featuring international, national and community artists, to show the connection between art and marine conservation. The aquarium’s fourth floor will be transformed into an art gallery where marine mammal paintings, sculptures and aquariums are on display along with videos featuring Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute’s fieldwork.

It was a magical afternoon as five amazing young people received awards for overcoming challenges and sharing their stories of hope at Clearwater Marine Aquarium on Saturday, Nov. 4. The awards celebrated uniqueness, diversity and inclusivity by honoring the guests of CMA’s Inspire Program at the Second Annual Inspire Awards. Recipients were praised for conquering their own challenges while making a positive impact in their community.
