Ciabatta
On Wednesday, May 23, Clearwater Marine Aquarium released a green sea turtle,Ciabatta, back into the wild at Treasure Island after almost three weeks of rehabilitation.
Ciabatta is a juvenile green sea turtle that was accidentally caught in a net in St. Pete on May 5th, 2023.
Ciabatta’s intake exam showed no external abnormalities and treatments included vitamins and fluids.
With Ciabatta showing normal behavior and eating well it is a quick turnaround for this little one! Ciabatta has been cleared for release by both our veterinarian and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and returned home.
All marine turtle footage taken in Florida was obtained with the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) under conditions not harmful to marine turtles. Footage was acquired while conducting authorized conservation activities pursuant to FWC MTP-23/24-172A.
