Three Sea Turtles Released After Rehabilitated at Clearwater Marine Aquarium

After receiving rehabilitation for several weeks at Clearwater Marine Aquarium, three sea turtles have been successfully released this week, following the release of another turtle earlier this month.

A ten-foot adult female manatee, named Nettles, was located for an assessment and tagged on April 3, 2023 in Cumberland, GA through the collaborative effort between Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute (CMARI) and other partners.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium will now be a part of an innovative network of zoos and sanctuaries around the world that will bring its animals to viewers 24-7. CMA is now part of zoolife, and is the first aquarium to join the platform as well as the first facility to showcase dolphins.

Rye, Kemp’s Ridley, Released at Fred Howard Park

On October 11, Clearwater Marine Aquarium returned a Kemp’s ridley sea turtle to its home after a successful rehabilitation. Rye was found on September 22 in the Spring Hill area and was accidentally caught by a fisherman and ingested a large fish hook.
